Socks are one of those items of clothing that have seen a lot of changes…particularly in recent years. Not only are they essential to keep us warm and give our feet the protection they need for a long day, but when paired correctly, they can be the perfect accessory to your outfit. You can find an array of socks for all kinds of situations – from elegant events, sports, hiking, camping and casual meetings to socks that are especially made for sleeping during the winter. In any case, socks are worn by most people for at least 70% of the day. This article will talk about the different trends that have been seen in men’s socks and tips for you to consider when focusing on men’s socks fashion.

First things first, you need to learn to associate your socks to the clothes you are wearing. Now let me ask you a question: would you wear white socks with white pants?  Your answer should be never, unless you are attending a Michael Jackson tribute show. You may think matching socks to the colour of your pants is a ‘safe’ way to go but that isn’t always the case. Men’s sock fashion is something that is very important and a lot of men have become very aware of this.

Socks have evolved quite a bit from the old days when they originally only consisted of one solid colour.  Now the sky’s the limit where you can find socks with endless designs and patterns to match different personas. Not only are the designs and embellishments different, but the style, cut and materials used are also factors to consider when choosing socks. Your socks should always be perfect for the situation that you are going to be involved in. You wouldn’t want your toes to be sweating in merino when attending a spring event now would you?

Don’t know where to start? The best thing to do is to invest in at least 7 pairs of socks with each one intended for different situations and weather conditions. Neutral colours such as black, white and grey are good to go with initially, this way you will be able to cover all your bases without running into a situation where you don’t have suitable socks. Once you have this foundation, you can gradually become more experimental in your choices, playing with different colours, patterns and designs. You could even personalize them with your logo or initials if that tickles your fancy.  As stated before, socks are an important accessory to any outfit, which should not be overlooked. Go on, get your sock on!
